Daniel Damaskinos is an internationally active soloist, chamber and orchestral musician, and lecturer based in Switzerland. Recognised for his technical mastery, precision, and versatile musicianship, he is particularly known for exploring the technical potential of the flute and for pushing the instrument beyond conventional boundaries.
His artistic and educational activities have taken him to stages and institutions across Europe, Asia, and Latin America. He is regularly invited as a soloist and masterclass teacher, with recent engagements spanning Zurich, Shanghai, Guangzhou, and Cartagena.
In Colombia, he was invited by the Cartagena Music Festival, where he performed in multiple concerts, premiered a new work for solo flute by the Colombian composer Giovanni Parra, and gave masterclasses to members of the Cartagena Symphony Orchestra.
Daniel began his musical journey at the Philharmonic Society Mantzaros in Corfu, where his early development was shaped by teachers and inspirations including Ria Georgiadis and William Dowdall. Supported by the Kiwanis scholarship, he went on to complete both his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at the Zurich University of the Arts (ZHdK). There, he studied with renowned flutists Philippe Racine and Johanna Schwarzl, as well as Pamela Stahel (piccolo)and Claire Genewein, graduating with distinction.
His achievements have been recognised through numerous prizes at international competitions, including multiple awards at the Urs Rüttimann International Flute Competition, the Basel International Online Music Competition, and the Young Musicians Competition in Corfu.
Alongside his concert and teaching career, Daniel has established a significant international presence through social media, where his performance style, characterised by technical virtuosity has reached millions of viewers worldwide.
Daniel currently holds a position as a flute lecturer at the Music Conservatory Zurich.
Alongside his institutional teaching, he prepares students worldwide, both online and in person, for admission to leading music universities, international competitions and examinations, with students achieving success at prestigious institutions and competitions.
His artistic vision is a desire to make the flute more visible, accessible, and compelling to audiences around the world.
